BBSC Dolphin Swim team

The BBSC Dolphins is a USA-Swimming competitive age group swim team

Swimmers ages 6-18 of all abilities ( able to swim at least 25 yards freestyle) are welcome!

2017 Summer Season Registration

Where: Bradley Bourbonnias High School Pool

Who: Boys and Girls ages 6-18

When: April 17th (Monday) 5-7pm

            April 18th (Tuesday) 7-8pm

The 2017 season beigns in May and runs through mid-July.

American Legion Here to Help

If you are a veteran in need of help from the Department of Veterans Affairs, the American Legion is ready to help you receive all of the benefits you earned through service to your country. The American Legion has trained serivce officers throughout Illinois familiar with the benefits available and what you need to know to get them. If you're a veteran or know of one who may need assistance, contact the American Legion Kankakee County Council at 815-935-9751.

Benefit Pancake Breakfast

There is a pancake breakfast coming up on June 26th at St. Rose Church Hall, which is located on 486 W. Merchant St. in Kankakee.  The menu includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, toast, coffee, orange juice and milk. The breakfast will serve as a benefit for the family of Crystal Ward and L.J. Watson, who lost two children as well as their home due to a fire on April 13, 2016. The cost to attend the event is $10 for adults and $4 for children under 10. A family of 4 or more will be $25. All donations will of course go toward the Ward and Watson family. Be sure to come out to St. Rose Church Hall on June 26th between 8 a.m. and noon!

Beaverville-Martinton Community Blood Drive

Please come out to St. Mary’s Parish Hall tomorrow, June 22nd for the Beaverville-Martinton Community Blood Drive. The drive is from 2-6 p.m. and you can either make an appointment or simply walk in. If you are interested and have any questions, give Diane a call at 815-435-2249 or Joyce at 815-435-2240. St. Mary’s Parish Hall is located at 308 St. Charles St. in Beaverville.

Wednesday Morning Walkers

If you’re interested in following the forest’s seasonal changes and enjoying some light exercise, Thorn Creek Nature Center is the place for you. Located at 247 Monee Road in Park Forest, Thorn Creek has a weekly hike every Wednesday morning beginning at 9 a.m. and it is absolutely free. However, you must be at least 13 years old to participate and you need to register two days before your first walk. Make sure to wear sturdy shoes since the trails can be wet or muddy. Trail Workdays at Thorn Creek Woods

Join the Thorn Creek Trail Work Crew to help build and repaid boardwalks and maintain the trails throughout the Preserve! On Saturday June 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. you can give back to Thorn Creek Woods Nature Preserve. You must be at least 15 years old and register by tomorrow, Wednesday, June 22 for a group of 6 people or more. Make sure to bring a lunch and gloves and wear sturdy shoes or boots. Refreshments will also be provided. If you are interested, please call 708-747-6320.

LesArtisans Arts & Craft Fairs

Bourbonnais Grove Historical Society is hosting the LesArtisans Arts & Crafts Fair on Monday, July 4th and Saturday, December 3rd from 9am-3pm at the Kankakee County Fairgrounds. The fair will feature artists, fine crafters and food. The historical society is accepting applications for vendors.
